  • Getting to Cappadocia

The Cappadocia region is located in Central Anatolia . Contrary to popular belief, it covers a very wide area. In the past years, it had a much larger border line than today. So much so that Cappadocia once stretched from the Taurus Mountains in the south to the Eastern Black Sea coast in the north, from Aksaray in the west to Malatya in the east. Nowadays, the border drawn by considering natural formations and cultural accumulation includes the provinces of Aksaray, Kırşehir, Kayseri and Niğde , with Nevşehir being the center.

Every corner of the region within this border created today does not intensely reflect the aforementioned natural and cultural features. The part that densely hosts natural formations such as fairy chimneys, valleys, Kırgıbayırs, mansions built with local stone , rock churches full of frescoes, underground cities carved into the ground by layers are the towns of Nevşehir such as Ürgüp, Avanos, Uçhisar, Göreme, Ortahisar, Çavuşin, Mustafapaşa, Kaymaklı, Derinkuyu. In addition to these , Güzelyurt district within the borders of Aksaray province and Ihlara Valley , which includes the districts of Ihlara, Yaprakhisar, Belisırma and Selime , draws attention. Also, regions with their own characteristics such as Hacıbektaş, Kozaklı, Bayramhacılı , which are affiliated to Nevşehir , Soğanlı Valley within the borders of Kayseri, Sultansazlığı, Kapuzbaşı, Erciyes Mountain and Kültepe Ruins , and Hasan Mountain in Aksaray are also a part of Cappadocia.
