Exploring the deep valleys of Cappadocia under the guidance of the full moon that sheds light on the pitch-black night… A journey to the nature of Cappadocia, sometimes on the paths, sometimes on the roads passing through gigantic fairy chimneys , Cappadocia Full Moon Valley Walk .

Werewolf in Turkish mythology, Erbörü

Greek mythology , Roman age stories , and even the werewolf legend, which was the subject of Turkish mythology with the name Erbörü ; Some people who practice witchcraft or are bitten by wolves turn into werewolves when the moon is full . The full moon, which is known to have various effects on people and the world , awakens the instinctive side in people, feelings and perceptions gain depth at the time of the full moon. The inspiration for the legend of the werewolf’s transformation was the effect of the full moon on humans.

Werewolf in Cappadocia

Greek historian Herodotus, who lived in the 5th century BC , spoke of werewolf legends about the Scythians living on the Black Sea coast at that time . He wrote that sorcerers transform themselves into werewolves during the full moon, and then change into human form again. We do not know whether Herodotus, who became known as the ” Father of History” thanks to his work “History of Herodotus “, really talked about such a legend. Although there were claims of seeing werewolves recorded in the 1500s and 1960s, one thing we know is that no werewolves have been found in Cappadocia until now. So don’t get too excited, it’s almost impossible to see a werewolf during a full moon walk.

Exploring the Red Valley by the full moonlight

Even though you can’t see the werewolves, you will see the Red Valley, one of the most beautiful valleys of Cappadocia, during the Cappadocia Full Moon Walks, which are held every 28 days and last for two days, during the full moon . Night is night, calm, without the sunset crowds, sunrise balloons. You will neither watch the disappearance of the sun nor the colorful states of the sky. You will experience the serenity of being alone with the Red Valley , of being right in it, not here and there. You will get to know the fairy chimneys better, and you will be more amazed by their churches , dovecotes and caves .

the effect of the full moon , which has been the subject of dozens of beliefs and poems as well as legends , in the quietest states of Cappadocia . Your journey will bring you excitement, maybe romance, maybe peace, maybe even feelings you weren’t aware of. Don’t forget to listen to your instincts on this journey full of discoveries.
